Day 6

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

Today consisted of homework and an interesting conversation with another nurse staying in my hotel.

She's actually from here, works at a nearby nursing home. She came to live in the hotel when they started having residents test positive for COVID. She had been living at home with elderly parents and did not want to pass the virus on to them unintentionally.

What a terrifying thought, to accidentally play a part in the suffering of someone you love. I think that might be one of the scarier things about COVID. Its ability to sneak into our lives and then change them forever. She said a lot of people have died at her facility. The difference between my job and hers, is that she really knows these people. Has been working with some of them for years.

She commented that she was supposed to start a new job in South Carolina in July. That it would be good timing to leave. Admitting that it would too hard to walk those halls again after everything she has seen, and will continue to see during their outbreak. My heart broke a little for her, and everyone at her facility. Hoping for the best for them.

Britt.
